Piper, the owner and founder of Rocky Mountain Piano Productions (RMPP), originally hails from the great state of South Dakota. Growing up in Rapid City, there wasn’t much to do but learn to play instruments and hone in on her gangsta rap skills. Piper began piano lessons at the insistence of her grandmother at age 7. At 9, she took up the cello but was forced to switch to the violin at 10 because the cello was too big to carry home. At 10 she also began playing the flute and the list of instruments continued to include the piccolo, oboe, guitar and bass. At 12 however, she convinced her grandmother that she wanted a new piano teacher or to not play piano anymore and thus began a 14 year hiatus from the keys. Her grandmother always warned her that she’d regret quitting piano, and she was right, but hey, look at her now!
In 2003, Piper moved to Ft. Collins, Colorado to attend Colorado State University where she studied a minor in Music on the violin and a double major in Psychology and Economics. Growing up, Piper also spent a great deal of time in the theater. From school to community theater, she directed, produced, acted, played in the orchestra pit, understudied, and did costumes. She also spent almost a decade singing with the Sweet Adelines (competitive womens acappella barbershop) beginning in high school. Choruses include Acappella Showcase (Rapid City, SD), Skyline (Denver, CO), Enchanted Mesa (Albuquerque, NM), Carolina Style (Conover, NC) and Queen City (Charlotte, NC).
After moving from SD to CO to NM to NC, Piper was drug practically kicking and screaming to a piano bar (Howl at the Moon Charlotte) in June of 2011. She immediately fell in love with the show and decided that she wanted to get on stage and rap “Ice Ice Baby.” A $40 stage fee later, and the rest is history! After a few months of training and learning songs, she was transferred to Howl at the Moon in Kansas City, MO. In Oct of 2012 she moved to Little Rock, AR to work at Ernie Biggs. In 2014 she began freelancing and applied to work at Carnival Cruise Lines. In May of 2014 she started her first contract on the Carnival Inspiration out of Long Beach, CA. Over the last 5 years you may have seen her antics on the Carnival Breeze, Pride, Sensation, Legend, Splendor, Sunshine, Magic, Imagination, Dream, Valor, Fascination, Ecstacy, Conquest, NCL Getaway and/or the NCL Epic. She now bases on out Evergreen, CO freelancing and booking shows for her own solo and dueling piano company, Rocky Mountain Piano Productions (RMPP), that she established in 2020.
Whether it’s dirty Disney songs, lullabies about friendly little cats, shredding the fiddle or a classic sing along tune, Piper's variety show will have you coming back for more. She would like to remind you that if the drinks, service and music are not up to your expectations, please go ahead and lower your expectations and to ALWAYS WASH YOUR HANDS!!! Cheers!
